Unearthed a labyrinth of the Minotaur
Ancient underground quarry in Crete perhaps Maze man-bull Minotaur, described in ancient books.
Around this assumption work cavers and geographers from the Anglo-Greek expedition to explore the area.
Until now scientists thought, Labyrinth of the Minotaur is actually the palace of Knossos, excavated and reconstructed by the British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans.
The existence of that maze had no firm evidence, it is possible that it is only the fruit of the imagination of ancient poets.
Now, however, it may prove as an open quarry is a labyrinth of underground tunnels.
The discovery was near the ancient city Gortini. During Roman times it was the capital city of Crete.
More XII century the place was known as "Caves of the Labyrinth."
"If you start with the archaeological evidence, it is hardly ever possible to say that there was ever Labyrinth" is skeptical of the expedition leader Andrew Shapland.
Old Greek myths and legends state that the Labyrinth was built by Daedalus. It was closed beast Minotaur, half-human-polubik. Seven girls and boys had been sacrificed every nine years. Minotaur was killed by Theseus.
