The most famous Greek myths

One of the most famous legends is that of Hercules, who was handsome and strong man, gifted by his father - god Zeus with unprecedented force. Hercules performed twelve labors to atone for the murder of his own children, which he committed in a fit of madness sent by the goddess Hera.

Among the most popular myths is that of Daedalus and Icarus. Daedalus was a famous sculptor and his son Icarus was. To escape from captivity, Daedalus made for both wings of wax and feathers, and forbade Icarus flying into the sun. But Icarus violated the prohibition and his wings melted.

Another famous Greek myth is that of Narcissus. So called handsome young man all day to look around in the lake and was turned into a flower by the gods. In ancient Greece, decorated with daffodils dead before burying them.

The myth of Prometheus is one of the most famous Greek myths. It gave people the fire, the gods punished him - nailed it to a rock and every day an eagle came that his liver pecked. This is perhaps the most tragic heroic figure in Greek mythology.

Among the famous Greek myths is that of Odysseus, who is told at length in Homer's Odyssey. This is the story of one of the heroines of the Trojan War - Ulysses, who experienced many ups and downs, before returning home. He was also the myth of Theseus, who is one of my favorite characters of the Greek people. His popularity was compared with that of Hercules. The myth of Theseus tells how this brave hero defeats the monster Minotaur - a man with a bull's head, which were continually sacrificed young boys and girls from wealthy families. Minotaur lived in a labyrinth, and with the beautiful Ariadne, who fell in love with Theseus, the hero manages to find the exit.
