Iranian General: If attacked us - World War III

Do not imagine that the Zionist regime will go to war without the support of the U.S., so it can get out of control, said Amir-Ali Hadzhizadeh

War between Israel and Iran could lead to World War III, said yesterday the commander of the Air Force of the Revolutionary Guards Corps Amir-Ali Hadzhizadeh said on Monday.

"We can not imagine that the Zionist regime will start a war against Iran without U.S. support, therefore any war will be against both sides.

In this case it will spiral out of control, because other countries will take part or Iran, or against it, and this could lead to a third world war, "said a senior Iranian military.

He warned that a possible confrontation with Israel believes Iran will all U.S. military bases in the region for the U.S. territory and they will be targeted by, added Monday.

Hadzhizadeh spoke to Iranian state television "Al Alam" which broadcasts Arabic. He said Iran could inflict first strike Israel if it is convinced that the Jewish state is preparing to attack, officials said.

"Our response will exceed their expectations ... They have no true assessment of our ability. We will respond not just with missiles," said Iranian General for possible conflict with Israel, saying that Israel does not have the military strength to oppose Iran.

While France, Germany and Britain formally asked the EU to impose new sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, AFP, citing diplomats.

The foreign ministers of the three European powers sent late last week about a joint letter to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton.

It is expected that the foreign ministers of the European Union to discuss the issue at a meeting in Brussels on 15 October.

It is necessary to strengthen the sanctions, said one of the diplomats said.

"We believe that the time left for political, diplomatic solution (to the dispute over Iran's nuclear program) and we are working on it, but we can not accept Iran acquiring nuclear weapons," he said.

The EU has already imposed on the Islamic Republic a range of sanctions, the most severe of which is the oil embargo, which officially came into force in July

Representatives of the so-called Six - the three European powers, U.S., Russia and China - will discuss the issue of Iran's nuclear program with Catherine Ashton on Thursday at a meeting on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.
